Thread: Minecraft Error

    Default Minecraft Error

Everything has been working fine for me up till today. I had a couple Windows updates and after that I get an error pop up when I try and start Minecraft.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Minecraft. Even used System Restore to take out the Windows updates I had installed. Still no luck with Minecraft starting. Anybody have any ideas.

    Have you tried updating Java?

I shared screens with him. We tried reinstalling minecraft, as well as java and java 64bit. Nothing fixed it...not sure what's going on.

Apparently not an uncommon error. You fully uninstalled Java and then reinstalled? Check your command line for starting up MC, see how much RAM it's trying to eat. Maybe try increasing that as at default it is only 1024MB.

No, you don't understand. The launcher insta-crashes the second he runs it.
He has no way to set the Java memory argument since it's done within the launcher.

Actually you can do it by using the command line to launch the process with arguments. Easier way it to make a shortcut for it. Found this for you: http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums...-with-more-ram.

That might work. Didn't think about that.

I tried to set up my own shortcut with the command line. Apparently I'm not doing something right. Might be better if the pics were still available on that site.

Perhaps it is more clear from here: http://cnation.net/cn/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=6476

Basically copy the command with the amount of RAM you think should do. Depends on how much you still have available.
Then change the location to your Minecraft.exe so that it knows where to point to.

We got it working. Swapped out his launcher with Mojang's alternate launcher and it fixed his problem.
